Recep Tayyip Erdogan
Turlkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan verbally attacked opposition leader Kemal Kılıcdaroglu in his speech Thursday in Agrı, calling the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, chief a “chameleon” on the subject of general amnesty.
“Kılıcdaroglu acts like a chameleon. In Tunceli he speaks of general amnesty while in Kayseri he asks for forgiveness,” Erdogan said.
The prime minister also touched on the issue of terrorism, saying there were people looking to make a profit from terrorist acts.
“On Nov. 3, 2002, we were given an important responsibility by the public,” Erdogan said in his speech at the Abide junction. He said it was a question of honor to keep that responsibility to Agrı.
“We have come to power in order to serve this nation, not to rule over it. We are to serve Agrı and the whole nation. We are here to alleviate the grief of Agrı. We are men of honorable word,” he added.
Erdogan also said his party and his cause are devoted to honesty and claimed the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, has never been plagued by dishonesty, hypocrisy or inconsistency.
The AKP has also never exercised discriminatory politics, the prime minister said.
“We are as determined and brave as [we were] on the date we founded AKP. We have defended and will always defend brotherhood, unity and justice,” said Erdogan.
