Ahmet Davutoglu

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has paid a brief visit to the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan.

Davutoglu visited Sadarak District in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic after ending a visit to Igdir in eastern Turkey.

The Turkish minister and his delegation were received by the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azer Zeynalov, and other officials.

Stressing the importance of the customs checkpoint between Turkey and Nakhchivan, Davutoglu said the procedure to cross the border was very simple there.

Davutoglu said Turkey would further support Azerbaijan’s position on resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

The minister restated Turkey's view that the opening of the Armenian border was out of the question until Armenia withdrew from the occupied Azerbaijani land.

The minister returned to Turkey after strolling around Sadarak.
