Beijing is holding Sportaccord Combat Games 2010 which involves Azerbaijani sportsmen.
Azerbaijan is represented in contests in karate and women’s wrestling. Our sportsmen gained two gold awards today. In the contest in wrestling the first place was taken by Olesya Zamula (63 kg). In the final she defeated American Amberie Montgomery and before that she defeated opponents from Canada and Spain. Our two other sportswomen-Svetlana Mammadova (48 kg) and Katerina Dombrovski (55 kg)- received no prizes.
Karateka Niyazi Aliyev was also successful. He defeated opponents from Japan, Benin and Greece at the preliminary stage in the weight category below 67 kg. In the semifinal he defeated karateka from the United States and in the final he again beat Greek Dimitrios Triantafilis.
