Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told the meeting with leaders of foreign diplomatic offices accredited in Baku that due to the Holy Month of Ramadan, the countries of the Islamic world demonstrate fair position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict, reported AzerTaj.
The head of state voiced confidence that the conflict will be settled within the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and on the basis of norms and principles of international law.
I.Aliyev stressed the importance of the greater strengthening of solidarity between Islamic countries.
The president stressed the planned increase in the number of both embassies of Muslim states in Baku and the Azerbaijani embassies in Islamic states.
The head of the state said Azerbaijan is developing successful cooperation with Islamic worls on the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations, recalling the conduction of a number of important events and declaration of the Azerbaijani capital as the capital of Islamic culture in 2009. I.Aliyev said Azerbaijan is doing everything possible for the greater unification of Muslim countries.
In turn, Uzbek ambassador in Baku Ismatulla Irgashev said Azerbaijan’s balanced and thorough policy further strengthens positions of the country on the international arena. The diplomat called Azerbaijan the country that envisions stability and dynamic development in the South Caucasus, the sample of religious tolerance and dialogue between civilizations. The Uzbek ambassador stressed the changelessness of the position of Muslim states on the problem of Karabakh.
