Unlike other countries Azerbaijan pays much attention to climatic and environmental changes.
According to European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) final report on audit regarding climatic changes held with participation of the Bodies of High Audit of 10 European states, under the statement of the Accounting Chamber of Azerbaijan, the audit is aimed at the assessment of the implementation of the Geneva Convention on climatic changes and Kyoto protocol.
The audit involved the Accounting chamber of Azerbaijan, Auditing office of Cyprus, National Auditing office of Denmark, National auditing office of Estonia, office of revision and Israel’s ombudsman, State auditing office of Macedonia, highest auditing office of Poland, Accounting chamber of Russia, Auditing office of Switzerland and Accounting chamber of Ukraine.
The report says on Azerbaijan that unlike other countries, the leadership of this country pays serious attention to issues of climatic and environmental changes.
'Azerbaijan has already ratified 15 international convention on environmental protection and has adopted a number of documents to remove existing problems. In addition, state programs and the plan of actions on environmental protection and climatic changes have been adopted. The country conducts regular monitoring of environmental pollution and prepares due reports.
Azerbaijan also takes part in the Pure Development Mechanism and holds negotiations with Canada, Denmark, France and Japan on implementation of pilot projects in this sphere', the document says.
