Azerbaijan's total foreign debt was $7.39 billion as of 1 October 2009, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov told.
He said that the debt is 8.7% of Gross Domestic Product as forecast for 2009.
“Foreign debt at the level of 8-9% of GDP, which is the case in Azerbaijan, is one of the lowest figures in the world,” Ziyad Samedzade, chairman of parliament's economic policy committee, said.
