The first National Cinema and Television Zafaran award will be granted in October of this year.
According to project director Rashid Ahmedov, the project is initiated by president of the Guild of professional film directors of Azerbaijan, people's artist Eldar Guliyev.
The main goal of establishing the award is attaching the impulse to development of Azerbaijani cinema, creation of conditions for familiarization of audiences with films of Azerbaijani cinematographers. The contest which will be held in 17 nominations can involve films created in the past three years.
The awards will be granted at Heydar Aliyev's Palace.
