Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will pay an official visit to Belarus on November 12-14, first Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko told reporters.

“This will be a remarkable visit and we should work to make it maximally definite”, Semashko said.

According to Semashko, the 2008 commodity turnover between the two countries made $117.7 mln. “But there is a potential to boost bilateral cooperation and raise the commodity turnover, as we have grounds for expanding it – we have moved from the purely trade relations to creation of joint ventures in the past two years”, the first vice premier of Belarus has noted.

Semashko reminded that Ganja already has a plant producing Belarus tractors and MAZ trucks. He said the sides are currently discussing possible creation of joint assembly plants of special technique, agricultural facilities, construction technique and lifts in Azerbaijan.

“There are definite projects and due programs”, Semashko said.

In turn, Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko said speaking of the visit of the Azerbaijani President to Minsk that it is very profitable for Belarus to cooperate with Azerbaijan as our economies are complementary. “We benefit from cooperating with Azerbaijan in different directions. Therefore, we will cooperate in any directions and will do everything we can for Azerbaijan”, Lukashenko noted.

He added that Azerbaijani president’s visit to Minsk will help select a number of promising projects
