Over 1.5m power meters with prepayment cars-smart meters have been installed in Azerbaijan which is a high indicator.

The statement came from Director of the Azerbaijani scientific research energy institute Nurali Yusifbeyli on July 20.

He said he attended the 37th session of the CIS Electric Power Council held in Uglich (Russia) on May 28 during which he spoke of the plans of the extensive installation of smart meters in Azerbaijan.

“Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko has called on Russia and other CIS countries to assimilate Azerbaijan’s experience in this sphere. As is seen, Azerbaijan is leading among the CIS countries by the establishment of smart meters”, Yusifbeyli said.

He also noted that all subscribers of Azerbaijan will be provided for smart meters in the coming two years.

According to Azerenerji, modern meters have obvious advantages. Thus, all cases of interference are fixed in the memory of the meter, the smart card is disconnected and the power supply to the subscriber is cut. To avert the failure the card is not activated, the power supply is not restored and loss of power is prevented. When 60 gepicks are left on the software cards of the smart meters, the meter warns about it by means of a sign. When the card is fully unloaded, it is possible to get a credit of AZN 1 by setting it into the meter again. After loading the new amount to the card, the amount of the credit is being deducted.

In addition, the dates of official holidays are set on the memory card of the meter. Thus, in case of the complete unloading of the card in holidays-New year (3 days) and Novruz Bayramy (2 days) the subscriber has a right to get limitless energy supply. In this case, the amount of electric power used at credit will be deducted after loading the card.
