The world summit of religious leaders in Baku, scheduled for 26-27 April 2010, will involve about 100 heads and senior representatives of major religious organizations from around the world, including the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Cyril, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade after the meeting with the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

"The summit will be held on April 26-27. Patriarch Cyril will arrive in Baku on April 25. There will be about 100 religious leaders," , RIA Novosti quoted Pashazade as saying.

According to him, the summit will bring together the representatives of the Shia, Sunni, Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Buddhists.

He said “God punishes those who kill”.

Sheikh-ul-Islam said that peace in the region, stoppage of killing, and peaceful coexistence of Muslims and Christians are important to him.

"Today (on the celebration of Pashazade’s jubilee)  there were representatives of Jews, Christians, Catholics, Protestants, Sunni, Shia and of different nationalities. Consequently, all together, we can judge whether we can fight against evil and create conditions for inter-religious dialogue for the people", noted Pashazade.

According to him, the politicians of independent states sometimes used religion as a means of imposing enmity. He said heads of state should know the basics of religion. Religious education is also important for ordinary citizens, says Pashazade.

He thanked Patriarch Cyril for worthy attention to Muslims and for the Order of "Glory and honor."

According to the head of the Caucasus Muslims, this is the third award he receives from the Russian Church.

"Patriarch’s attitude to me and to Muslims and his visit to Baku are the best awards for me.. Azerbaijan is the first Muslim country, which he visits, though he is very busy”, said Pashazade.
