Aliyev receives Patriarch Kirill

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

Aliyev described the patriarch's as "a good opportunity to strengthen ties between our states and to develop inter-religious dialogue”.

He said that Russian-Azerbaijani ties are developing rapidly, bringing benefits to both peoples.

Patriarch Kirill said Azerbaijan is a role model for other countries since good cooperation exists between Muslims and Orthodox believers. He expressed gratitude for the level of inter-faith relations and the place the Orthodox Church occupies in Azerbaijan.
