ANCA

The Armenian National Committee of American has applied to the US presidential administration with a demand to condemn the upcoming visit of Sudan President Omar Al-Bashir to Turkey.

Omar Al-Bashir faces charges of war crimes, in particular of taking genocide actions in country’s western region Dafur, killing more than 300,000 people.

The International Criminal Court issued a sanction for Al-Bashir’s arrest. Meanwhile, the Turkish authorities do not intend to arrest the Sudanese president who will arrive in Istanbul to attend the OIC summit. Moreover, Turkey actively supplies Sudan with arms and boosts trade cooperation. ANCA alongside the Center of American Progress and the organization “Enough! Save Dafur!” and a net of organizations of resistance to genocide stressed the need for Obama and Clinton to prevent the visit of the wanted war criminal to the capital of one of the key allies of the United States.
