The chairman of the parliament of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, has received an Iranian delegation led by Vice President Hamid Baghai.
Baghai said his visit aims to define the prospects for relations between Iran and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the economic, cultural and tourism sectors.
Talibov praised the current level of relations, saying Nakhchivan enjoys “effective” economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation with Iran's provinces of Eastern and Western Azerbaijan".
The chairman of Nakhchivan's Supreme Assembly said the two nations share common cultural and religious values and traditions.
Iran's consul general to Nakhchivan, Seyyid Mohamed Tabatabayi, and Azerbaijan's Consul General to Tabriz, Aykhan Suleymanov, were present at the meeting.
Nakhchivan has the status of an autonomous republic of Azerbaijan. It is separated from the rest of the country by Armenian territory and shares borders with Iran, Turkey and Armenia.
