Eduard Nalbandyan
The status of the Nagorno-Karabakh republic is the only issue discussed in the settlement talks at present, Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan told a meeting of Armenian parliamentary committees on 5 November.
He said that other issues are not debated, as the status and security of Karabakh are the priority for the Armenian side.
“I say security in the broadest sense of the word, that means the presence of land communication with Armenia and not only this,” Nalbandyan said.
The foreign minister said that the issue should be resolved through negotiations, which take place within the framework of the Madrid principles. He said that a solution is unlikely to be reached in the next three to four months, as the process will be long.
“The Karabakh conflict settlement is among the most important issues for us. Our approaches to its settlement remain unchanged - we do not see an alternative to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The conflict should be settled peacefully”. Nalbandyan said.
