Central Election Commission

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 7 November, the Central Election Commission confirmed today.

Under the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, parliamentary elections are held every five years on the first Sunday of November, Central Election Commission spokesman Azer Sariyev said.

He said that this year election day falls on 7 November.

Under the Election Code, the election marathon begins officially at least 75 days before voting day.

Central Election Commission secretary Natig Mammadov told a sitting of the commission today that every candidate had to open a personal account with the International Bank of Azerbaijan.

'The fund of a candidate or election bloc must not exceed 500,000 manats,' Mammadov said.

Citizens can contribute a maximum of 3,000 manats ($3,625) to a candidate's election fund, legal entities 50,000 manats ($60,400) and political parties 150,000 ($181,200), he said.
