Azerbaijani refugees are right to claim for the return to their native lands, currently occupied by Armenia, French senator Natalie Goulet said.
According to the Center of Strategic Studies under the Azerbaijani president who invited Goulet to visit the country, during the meeting with a group of refugees in the Narimanov district of Baku, the senator said it is time for the world community to stop turning a blind eye on the unbearable conditions in which the victims of the Karabakh conflict live.
Goulet expressed astonishment at the determination of the Azerbaijani refugees to return to their homeland and said they have a right that is recognized by the UN and other organizations.
The senator familiarized with the new houses intended for the refugees and admired the case of the Azerbaijani leadership about the victims of the Karabakh war and stating that no conditions will replace homes to their people.
In turn, Gabriel Keller, French ambassador in Azerbaijan who accompanied Goulet stated the need to return refugees and IDPs to their native lands.
Goulet promised to inform the Senate about the hard state of the Azerbaijani citizens driven by Armenians from Karabakh upon her return to France.
