Armenian Olympic Committee disapproves participation in Wrestling championship in Baku.

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling national team will not attend European Championship to be held in Baku, on April 13-18, as it does not give a rating, Armenian National Olympic Committee press service informs.

The Committee’s position is entailed by its strategy that implies worthy performance in rating tournaments, which enables more sportsmen to participate in the Olympics.

Earlier, head coach of Armenian national team Levon Julfalakyan informed that the team is getting ready for the World Wrestling Championship to be held September 6-12 in Moscow. Thus, going to Baku is unadvisable.

Meanwhile, Armenian youth boxing team will participate in the Youth World Championships held in Baku on April 23-May 1 to qualify for Youth Olympics in Singapore.

In its turn Azerbaijani team did not participate in the Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup held in Yerevan this February. Azeri federation reasoned their refusal by preparation for the European Championship in Baku.
