The shipyard, laid on Friday with the participation of president of Azerbaijan, is a new stage in the development of Azerbaijan-Singapore relations, Singapore’s FM George Eon.
'This is a project, which has no analogue in the Caspian region', said D. Eon. It was noted that the Singapore-based company which carries out the construction works holds a 10% stake in the project.
The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Singapore said that during the talks, they discussed the possibilities of enhancing bilateral cooperation and the prospect of concluding agreements in the fields of investment promotion, evasion of double taxation, possible exchange of days of culture, training of personnel at the Singapore Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, etc.
The Foreign Minister of Singapore said that the agenda includes the facilitation of visa regime with Azerbaijan and Singapore's Keppel is likely to be empowered to settle these issues.
'In addition, we have discussed the issue of establishing direct flights between Azerbaijan and Singapore, which is carried through Dubai and Moscow. Upon return to Singapore, we will discuss the usefulness of this issue with relevant structures', said D. Eon.
