"I have not been made aware of any deal that the bill will not be brought to the floor."

A spokesperson for the US Department of State said that he was not informed of any deal that would prevent the Armenian resolution on incidents of 1915 from being brought to the floor of the general assembly of the US House of Representatives.

During a daily press briefing, a reporter asked Gordon Duguid, acting deputy spokesman for the State Department, whether there was an agreement between the US administration and Congress on not bringing the Armenian resolution to the agenda of the general assembly.

"I have not been made aware of any deal that the bill will not be brought to the floor," Duguid replied.

"That is something that Congress will decide," he said.

Earlier this month, a senior US official stated that the resolution on the incidents of 1915, which has been recently adopted by a US congressional panel, claimed that the US administration and Congress leaders had agreed not to carry the resolution a step further.

On the other hand, US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon said during a press conference at Brookings Institute that there was no such deal, noting the Congress was an independent organ that would decide on the issue on its own.

On March 4, the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Relations approved a resolution in support of the Armenian allegations regarding the incidents of 1915.

Upon such development, Turkey temporarily recalled its ambassador in Washington D.C. Namik Tan to Ankara.
