A tie-break whose participants fought for participation in world cup has started upon completion of European chess championship in Rieke (Croatia).
According to News.Az, Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov took the 11th place in the European championship but failed to reach the world cup.
To reach the set goal, the Azerbaijani champion needed to beat Armenian Gabriel Sargsyan in rapid game. Though the start game was won by the Armenian chess player, Mammadov managed to equate the situation. A draw was fixed in the third game while in the fourth the Azerbaijani representative gained a victory which was decisive for the result of the match. Rauf Mammadov got a right to partake in the world cup.
