The average monthly wage in Azerbaijan reached AZN 298.2 or $371.35 as at 1 March 2009 (by the current exchange rate), according to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan. It has grown by 2.1% over January-February 2009.
The highest wage is observed among people engaged in production, financial brokering, rental and commercial activity, construction companies, information and communication. According to the statistical committee, within two months the employees of the enterprises and organizations received AZN 1.1 mln of social benefits not included into the salary fund. The main part of such social payments has been issued to the employees of the producing industry, transport enterprises, storehouse and communication, production and power, gas and water distribution, as well as procedding industry.
