Azerbaijan records 933 cases of food poisoning

Ministry of Health in Azerbaijan has presented report on its activity for 2009.

The Ministry of Health in Azerbaijan has presented report on its activity for 2009 at conference on "Protection of Consumer Rights: Realities and Prospects", organized by the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan. 

According to chief of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center of the Ministry of Health, Imran Abdullayev, 19.000 objects were inspected in 2009 with violations found on 15,000 and these violations were removed on 14,000 of them.

"During the year, the laboratories tested thousands of samples of food. Last year there were 993 cases of food poisoning, and only 2 cases occurred at catering facilities. The remaining cases were associated with low-quality goods ", said I. Abdullaev. 

The conference was devoted to the World Day of Consumer Protection, which is celebrated on March 15.
