Azerbaijani in seventh place in Amber Chess Tournament

Vugar Hashimov

Azerbaijani Grandmaster Vugar Hashimov is in equal seventh place after the fourth round of the Amber Chess Tournament in Nice.

Hashimov played Ukrainian Ruslan Ponomarev. Their blindfold game ended in a draw, while Hashimov won the rapid game.

After four rounds he is level in seventh place with Armenian Levon Aronyan and Russians Sergey Karyakin and Peter Svidler. They all have 3.5 points each.

Magnus Carlsen and Vasily Ivanchuk are in the lead with 6 points.

No games will be played today.

Hashimov will play Russian Alexander Grishuk in the fifth round on 18 March.
