'Unfortunately, cosmopolitanism is becoming more obvious in the activity of Radio Liberty. Instead of giving an objective assessment of events in the country, the editorial board has in fact turned into an opposition mouthpiece,' Aydin Mirzazade said.
'If we look closely at the work of the Armenian and Azerbaijani editorial offices of Radio Liberty, we can see a great difference in their work.
'The Armenian editorial office protects Armenian interests, while ours is just engaged in blackening everything that is going on in Azerbaijan. Not everything depends on money and no matter what position one holds, one should not forget the interests of one's country.
'Karabakh is our bleeding wound and every Azerbaijani must always remember it. Journalists of this editorial office seem not to live in Azerbaijan, they cover all events except Karabakh. Therefore, I consider the work of our editorial office of Radio Liberty to be unsatisfactory. The leadership of the Azerbaijani editorial office of Radio Liberty should seriously think about it, otherwise, they will soon have no listeners left. People want to hear unbiased information,' he said.
The BBC, Radio Liberty and Voice of America have been off air in Azerbaijan since 1 January 2009, when new regulations banning foreign broadcasters came into force.
Azerbaijani media, including 1news.az, have commented that Radio Liberty's Armenian service actively protects the interests of the Armenian state on the issue, while the Azerbaijani service fails to do so.
