Azerbaijani grandmaster loses to Russian opponent

The third round of the Amber chess contest involving 12 grandmasters including Azerbaijani Vugar Hashimov has been held in Nice (France).

According to News.Az, in this round Hashimov played with one of the favorites of the contest, Russian chess player Vladimir Kramnik. The blind game ended in a draw while in the rapid game the Russian opponent won 1.5:0.5.

The Azerbaijani chess player shares the 10-11th places with Cuban Lenier Dominguez with 2 points. Today Hashimov will play against Ukrainian Ruslan Ponomarev in the fourth round. Meanwhile, another Ukrainian grandmaster Vladimir Ivanchuk is leading with 4.5 points.
