"Sooner or later the Karabakh side will be involved in the settlement process, and the sooner this is done, the better".

The soonest involvement of Karabakh in the negotiation process will help resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said French co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier.

"Sooner or later the Karabakh side will be involved in the settlement process, and the sooner this is done, the better", Fassier said Friday in Yerevan on 73rd Rose Roth seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

According to him, it is clear for intermediaries that Karabakh will finally become a party to the settlement process.

At the same time Fassier said that it will happen at the end of negotiations, after the resolution of disputable issues, "after Armenians and Azerbaijanis find a way to live peacefully next door to each other, after the return of Azerbaijani population who lived in Karabakh before the war"

The French co-chairman noted that the Karabakh side was in some way represented in the settlement process in the person of Robert Kocharian, who after his election as president of Armenia started to represent the positions of both Armenia and Karabakh.

The French co-chairman, however, noted that the Karabakh side at some point and to some extent remained outside the negotiation process, and now to return to the once-existing format of negotiations, which involved Karabakh, there is a need for the consent of the parties - Armenia and Azerbaijan .
