Grandiose festivities will be organized in Baku on Novruz Day.
Baku authorities will also organize a solemn ceremony to celebrate (Ilakhir Charshanba) Last Tuesday before Novruz, Baku Executive Power Office said. The festivity will be held outside Giz Galasi (Maiden Tower) on March 16. Flame will be brought in phaetons from Ateshgah (Fire Shrine) to build three fires over the Maiden Tower.
The concert program will begin at 19.00 and be followed by illumination at the National Park. The illumination will be organized on March 20 too.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan will also organize Novruz festivities, spokesman for the ministry Intigam Humbatov said.
The festivities will begin in Icherisheher (Old City) and continue before Gosha Gala (Twin Gates), Maiden Tower and at the Seaside National Park.
'Novruz Holiday was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. UN declared March 21 an International Novruz Day and therefore festivities will be more solemn and interesting this year'.
Humbatov said that the ministry was holding rehearsal of festivities now.
