Baku to host summit of world religious leaders

The summit of the world religious leaders will be held in April with participation of the representatives of all traditional religious.

Baku will host the summit of world religious leaders on April 27-29, Allahshukur Pashazade, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, told a news conference,

He stressed the importance of the conduction of this event in Baku. “Over 150 religious figures are expected to partake in the summit. 11 patriarchs will represent the Orthodox church. In addition, the summit will involve representatives of all traditional religions of the world”, Pashazade added.

The head of the Caucasus Muslims Department did not rule out that All-Armenian Catholicos Garegin ll may be invited to the summit: “The CIS interreligious coordination council involves religious leaders of all countries. I know that Moscow and All-Russian Patriarch Cyrill will visit Armenia soon. He can invite Garegin to the Baku event. I do not see anything unusual in this issue.

I would like Garegin to come and see the realities of Azerbaijan with his own eyes. But I do not think he will come”, Sheikh-ul-Islam said.
