Turkey is concerned over Israel's approval of the construction of new Jewish settlements in Eastern Jerusalem consisting of 1600 houses.

According to a written statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the adoption of this decision in period when there is a sharp need for trust between the sides casts serious doubts on Israel's position and intentions.

Turkey has called on Israel to review the decision and avoid the steps that may cause changes in the situation in Jerusalem and damage the peace talks.
