Ganja declared capital of legends in Azerbaijan

The event on implementation of the project "Ganja-the capital of legends 2010" was held in Ganja Wednesday.

'This project will become a basis in the preservation of traditions, as well as the cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people from generations to generation. This experience is already applied in most countries', Latifa Mammadova, chief of library department of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to the representative of the ministry, the information about this event will be reflected on the websites and there is also a plan to issue booklets and brochures.

'The day of book will be held in Ganja in April. It will involve all heroes of the legends. All these events are included into the list of those which will be held within a year', Mammadova said.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism also declared Gazakh the capital of folklore and Sheki the capital of handicraft.
