This statement was made here today by Prime Minister of this Eastern European country, Donald Tusk at the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasi-zade, ITAR-TASS.
Tusk stressed that "Azerbaijan has long been a very valuable partner" for his country for many years.
"We do not hide that we treat our relations with Azerbaijan very seriously," aid the Polish prime minister, noting that it was one of the incentives that encouraged his country to support the idea of "Eastern Partnership" of the EU. He believes that participation in this program will be profitable for all countries of the region including Azerbaijan. "This is about access to European money, easing visa regime, trying to work together to solve international problems, reconciliation of standards in economy and politics", said Tusk.
In turn, Rasi-zade said that Azerbaijan aims at integrating with the European structures and attaches great importance to the program of "Eastern Partnership". "We are interested in developing comprehensive relations with Poland, whose support is very important to us, including in the light of our focus on integration with Europe", said the Azerbaijani premier
Referring to economic ties, both prime minister noted that there is a great potential for development of cooperation in this field. Rasi-zade and Tusk said that one of the important topics of the talks in Baku was the cooperation in oil and gas industry, including in the transportation of Caspian energy to Europe. At the same time, Rasi-Zade stressed his country's interest in the development of the non-oil sector and called for Polish companies to participate actively in the Azerbaijani projects in this direction.
