The travel warning says:
'Though the number of terror attacks has fallen in Iraq compared with previous years, it is still dangerous to travel to this country. Travel to Baghdad and to the northern areas of Mosul and Kirkuk must be delayed. Travel to Basra, Maysan, Al Anbar, Salahaddin, Diyata, Wasit, Babil, Ninawa, Al-Qadisiyah, Muthanna, Najaf, Karbala and Dhi Qar is also dangerous.
'Clashes occur every day between the Iraqi security forces and various armed groups and foreigners are attacked in Iraq. On 28 January, one Azerbaijani was killed and two wounded as their bus carrying pilgrims came under fire.
'Thousands of people are killed and wounded as a result of kidnapping, the detonation of explosives in vehicles and crowded places.
'Travel by road is very dangerous because cars are frequently attacked, particularly on the road from Baghdad International Airport to the centre of the city.
'The Iraqi government closed the Kella, Sarnban-Qolle, Tayvela and Parviz Khan check-points on the border with Iran. The Abdali and Safvan border points with Kuwait are also closed.
'Azerbaijani citizens planning to travel to Iraq are requested to take the above-mentioned issues into consideration and to be very careful.
'Azerbaijani citizens residing in Iraq permanently or temporarily are recommended to contact the embassy of Azerbaijan in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and to be registered at the consulate to make assistance easier when they face problems.
'The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is not responsible for incidents the country’s citizens could face during their journeys.
'For your information, no region or country in the world can be considered free of the risk of terrorism or emergency .'
