Education Ministry
The heads of schools № 37, 228, 192, 141, 110, 321, 208, 26, 79 and 61 were dismissed while the heads of schools № 38, 151, 139, 94 and 270 were warned, the Education Ministry said yesterday.
The ministry did not give exact reasons for the dismissals, but they are thought to concern corruption.
In January and February this year the Education Ministry's hot line received 143 appeals from the public, according to the ministry's news service. Of those appeals, 36 were made by phone and 107 by e-mail, while 55% of appeals were for information.
Some 43% of appeals concerned the introduction of centralized exams for the final year in school and the new system for hiring teachers, while 45% of appeals concerned problems in preschool, secondary, special and higher education.
Thirty-eight appeals concerned further education, including exams, diplomas and tuition fees.
The ministry said that 200 appeals, 100 of them anonymous, had been received in the first five days of March.
This led the ministry to hold the third session of its working group to tackle corruption.
