SOCAR's monthly payment to Azerbaijani budget falls

Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) paid $107.4 million to the government in February.

Of this sum, SOCAR transferred AZN 77.893m ($97m) to the state budget, an increase of AZN 49.283m ($61.34m) on February last year, SOCAR said in a press release yesterday.

It did, however, represent a fall of AZN 11.905m ($14.82m) on the AZN 89.798m ($122.602m) transferred to the budget in January.

In addition, in February SOCAR paid AZN 8.387m ($10.44m) to the State Social Protection Fund, AZN 375,000 ($466,766) more than February last year, but down on the AZN 8.7m ($10.83m) paid in January.

In 2009 as a whole, SOCAR transferred AZN 1.468bn ($1.83bn) to the state budget and AZN 115.163m ($143.35m) to the Social Protection Fund.

As of 1 March 2010, the exchange rate was AZN 0.8034 to the US dollar.
