Iran and Turkish presidents expressed satisfaction over increasing ties between the two countries during a telephone conversation on Friday night two officials urged for more regional and international developments.
They underlined that consolidation of relations between the two countries would benefit the two nations and regional security and stability.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated the birth anniversary of the Noblest Messenger of Allah, Hazrat Mohammad to his Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Gul and said Iran defends rights of its Turkish brothers in regional and international communities.
Pointing to important regional and international developments, President Ahmadinejad said these developments are changing in favor of IRI and Turkey and the current conditions are proper opportunities to be used to establish justice and peace in the world.
"Today Turkey has gained an outstanding position in the region through wise policies of its officials and has an important role in regional peace, stability and security," President Ahmadinejad said adding that the smart Turkish people appreciate these policies and support their officials' constructive plans.
President Abdullah Gul for his part congratulated the birth anniversary of the Noblest Messenger of Allah, Hazrat Mohammad to President Ahmadinejad and said Turkey attaches high importance to strong relations with Iran and is eager to have consultation with the country about regional and international developments.
"Turkey believes that consultation with Iran about regional and international developments as well as global peace, stability and security would benefit the two countries and region," Gul said.
Referring to Iran’s influential role in the regional interactions, Gul called for deepening brotherly ties between the countries in different fields and said Turkey defends Iran's rights in all international communities.
