According to News.Az, the Azerbaijani team gained one license. It was taken by Sabuhi Ismailzade, taking part in the weight category of up to 73 kilograms. He took the sixth place and won one of the six tours in the Olympic Games.
A total of 30 countries clinched at least one ticket to the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. Host Mexico, Russia and Germany earned five tickets each, while Korea grabbed four tickets to the Singapore Youth Olympic Games.
Iran, France, China and the United States earned three tickets, while five countries - Ukraine, Jordan, Canada, Cuba and Turkey - got two berths. Seventeen countries won one ticket to the taekwondo competition of the 1st Youth Olympic Games. They are Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Thailand, Colombia, Spain, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Argentina and Sweden.
A total of 385 athletes from 96 countries competed for tickets to the Singapore Youth Olympic Games at the WTF World Qualification Tournament, which featured five male and five female weight divisions. Through the qualification tournament, a total of 30 male and 30 female athletes, the top six athletes per weight category, were qualified for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
A total of 100 athletes are to compete for top honors at the taekwondo competition of the Youth Olympic Games. Host Singapore automatically earns three male and three female tickets to Singapore, while the remaining 34 tickets will be decided upon through consultations among the International Olympic Committee, the National Olympic Committees and the World Taekwondo Federation.
