According to him, the high rate of ICT development in Azerbaijan created good opportunities for universal access to the Internet. But, unfortunately, there are negative aspects of this process, as a number of sites created by Azerbaijan in the Internet zone are contrary to the moral foundations of the Azerbaijani mentality. Created by individuals and being far from morality, these sites are widely promoted among the younger generation.
"These websites encourage the growing generation only for entertainment, which adversely affects their education, the achievement and narrows their vision to the level of consumer goods and sexual entertainment. If we do not take this matter seriously, it will have a negative impact on the moral education of youth, 50-60% of which is regularly online”, said the expert.
Kazimov urged to use the positive experience of the Ministry of Education, which created an effective system to ensure the safety of schoolchildren under the State Program on Informatization of Education System in Azerbaijan in 2008-2012. Today's Internet-filtering systems used in the Azerbaijani education network, as well as the establishment of the Council on the use of Internet make it possible to protect children who use Internet at schools.
The expert also appreciated the Microsoft project "Child Safety online" in Azerbaijan, which aims at informing the public about existing and potential threats on the Internet on children. "We need to unite the Azerbaijani and international experience in this area and start the painstaking work of solving the problem", he said.
